May 2019 POPS Meeting

EVENT OVERVIEW

The Presbytery gathers at First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield, CA on Thursday, May 16th (1:00 pm) through Friday, May 17th (5:00 pm). Included in the meeting will be dinner on Thursday, and breakfast and lunch on Friday, as well as an All-Presbytery Worship Service on Thursday evening.

Our presenter at the meeting will be Brad Griffin, Director of the Fuller Youth Institute, where he develops research-based training for youth workers and parents.  A speaker, blogger, and volunteer youth pastor, Brad is the co-author of Growing Young, several Sticky Faith books, Right Click: Parenting Your Teenager in a Digital Media World, and the series Can I Ask That?: 8 Hard Questions about God and Faith.  Brad and his family live in Southern California.

Also planned for the meeting will be a report from the POPS Engage 2025 Home Team, chaired by Rev. George Carey.  They will propose for us the adoption of an unreached people group for a special mission emphasis. World Outreach special guests, Rob and Iris A., who have much experience with this people group, will help make the recommendation and be available to answer questions. Please pray with us that a team leader, and team members, will be raised up from among our own churches for this significant pioneer church-planting work.

Registration begins in late March 2019.
